Meet Max – Certified Piano Technician Serving WI & IL

At Max’s Piano Tuning, music and mechanics come together. I’ve been passionate about both from a young age, so piano tuning felt like a natural calling. I began my journey by apprenticing for about nine months under a highly respected Piano Technicians Guild (PTG) member, where I gained invaluable hands-on experience. Since then, I’ve spent the last five years honing my craft in the field and have been certified through the Piano Technician Academy for over five years.

I’m committed to providing high-quality, affordable piano tuning services throughout Southeastern Wisconsin and Northern Illinois. Whether it’s fine-tuning your instrument, addressing minor repairs, or offering advice on long-term maintenance, my goal is to treat every piano with the care and attention it deserves. I feel incredibly fortunate to do work I love and look forward to helping your piano sound its very best.

FAQs

  • Pianos are complex instruments, and each string has a tension of anywhere from 160 to 200 pounds. A trained technician can ensure your piano is optimized to produce the highest quality sound. Regular tuning allows your instrument to maintain its integrity and lengthen its lifespan.

  • Piano manufacturers will recommend that you have your piano tuned twice a year, usually coinciding with the major seasonal changes. Unless your instrument is played daily or subjected to sever environmental changes, such as temperature, humidity, or relocation, once a year is often sufficent.

  • While I can do minor technical work, my primary focus on the moment is tuning. If I find more extensive repairs needed I will help you connect with a repair professional.

  • An average tuning should take about an hour, sometimes longer if the piano is severely out of tune.
